Demystifying the Fog of a Stalker

So, as a bit of a preface to these articles here is a bit of context that is a de-identified as can be. The stalking issue we have had to deal with (yes, it has been a family affair, meaning the entire family has had to deal with this at one point or another) has been going on for at least 5 years that we can confirm through actionable activities. Basically, we have been able to confirm that someone has been breaking the law in transgressions on another person for at least the last 5 years.

In that time frame some of the things that have happened include:

  • Vandalism
  • Breaking and Entering
  • Burglary
  • Stalking with Intent to harm – In some states any stalking activity that goes on for more than 6 months is an automatic felony with anywhere from a 12 to 60 month sentence.
  • Possible Poisoning with arsenic – This one is touch to prove without a great deal of lab work.
  • Harassment – General and ongoing

There are other things that have happened which merit their own article or articles but these give you the idea of what one person has had to live with for an extended period of time.

When it comes to law enforcement what we discovered is that without clear, identifiable images of a face you are for the most part unable to take action even if you have a body, image of them walking away, part of a face(unless its most of the face), hands with jewelry, image of them walking into the house but without the face you still will need to get clear identifiable images. You may have to go through quite a bit to get those images but you will save yourself a whole other type of aggravation if you do.

This means most anti-theft systems like ADT that do not offer surveillance will not do you much good. Systems like Ring and other video based surveillance systems will do much more good but you will need enough internet bandwidth to support several cameras and opt-in for the cloud storage option if available.

When it is not clear that you are being targeted the real challenge is in getting past the self-questioning of “Did I move that?” “I don’t remember leaving this in that place when I left.” After a while of this a person is left with the Fog of a Stalker where they just don’t know what is going on, or what could it be. You see where I am going…

The more you live in the Fog of a Stalker, the more you are doing the bulk of work for them. I am convinced that stalkers are experts in lazy and passive aggressive behavior so you do the work for them.

Now, personally I am not an idealist. people will do whatever they feel they have to do for whatever reasons and whatever time frame they deem necessary.

The point is to be able to survive and come out of a situation like this you have to find the frame of mind where you are neither emotionally pulled into any change within your environment nor do you question yourself. Just like figuring out a magic trick, the first step is understanding that what you are seeing is not real. It’s a trick and you just don’t see the how of what is happening just yet. But you will.
