Stalking: When a Burglary is More than a Burglary

This post will set the stage for narrating an entire series of events which spanned several years. Just a heads up… these events do demonstrate the depths that some people will go to in their obsessed prejudice against someone.

Key Bumping

‘Key bumping’ is one of those terms that when you do a Google search will just about take your breath away with the results and every aspect of the topic in general. I learned about key bumping in figuring out the extreme extent that at least one stalker (we are pretty sure they had friends at least at one point) repeatedly broke into the house.

After changing lock after lock we realized that they were using some type of key bump tool to break into each and every lock we installed. Silly me… my consciousness had not yet evolved to that of a criminal. I was till thinking like a regular person with a modicum of decency.

Needless to say after hundreds of dollars if not into the thousands for lock replacements, fixing the doors, locksmiths etc. a bit of Internet research revealed these handy key bump tools (available on Amazon) which could by pass most any lock.

This predates or possibly happened at the same time that magnets were also used  as a key bump tool. So, who besides the stalker really knows… no one.

Breaking & Entering and Home Intrusions

“There is a burglary approximately every 13 seconds. Excuse me, I was just corrected… A ‘home intrusion’ is committed every 13 seconds.”

For several years I am pretty sure the stalker or stalkers who tormented us probably did about 20% of those in this area. About 80% of the time we could not leave the house without coming back to everything from furniture being re-arranged, household items stolen, different items that did not belong to us were brought into the house as if they had been there all along, clothes were stolen. Ah yes, what is this type of harassment without an underwear fetish…  yes that too.

Sometimes items were bagged up and hidden within different parts of the house (the bag bandit will be it’s own series of posts… it is that weird) only to find later, sometimes much later. As a bonus they used the toilet and flushing was optional…  ewww…

What this meant for our everyday home life was, if we were not going through every inch of the house at all times before we left and after we came back we would not know the extent of what was done, missing, damaged etc. So several times a week this was going on.

Yes we had cameras and they must have had enough technical expertise to get past them, find the blindspots and/or manipulate them somehow(blindspots will also be it’s own series of posts… also very weird). This went on and on for several years.

What we did discovery was that as we unraveled the cell phone stalking aspect of this we discovered that they were tracking us through the phone and then knew we were not there and then well they could do whatever they did to commit yet another crime.

Home Intrusions as Stalking Strategy

As harassment goes, this was pretty severe. When a burglary is more than just a burglary is what this ended up being. Why? We will never know but we do know it was a way to get to us again and again and again without direct contact.

What we found out further later on was the stalker was in our orbit which allowed them to see the stress, upset etc. and know that what they were doing was effective. An added bonus of hidden emotional satisfaction for someone who was essentially an abuser.

After yet more research we discovered this type of stalker was more of a ‘resentful stalker’ so we had to proceed with caution.

So my detached yet involved mindset was and is a part of my survival strategy because these types of people who love to punish for the sake of punishing and who enjoy seeing others suffer for the sake of suffering love the emotion of it all.
